Restoration process of the Flavian amphitheater results in withdrawing almost all foliage out of the area. Colosseum, in its current restored state, preserves the ruin structure and there is no trace left of its former ecosystem confining both local greenery and alien species. Regarding documentations on plant species, after emperor Nero’s palace has burnt down, many variations of fruits and flowers emerge. In addition, seeds of the alien species this ecosystem used to contain, is thought to be carried by animals, which were brought to Rome from overseas.

This restoration shows an urge to domesticate this untamed ecology via indirectly wiping out all historical residue and plants growing out of it. Restoration is for making a contribution to archeology, which is supposed to preserve data and history, however in this case preservation of historical data is contained within the ecology, which has been lost for the sake of refinement.

Essence of Carl Linnaeus taxonomy method is the transformative quality in practice of collecting plants. Linnaean Herbarium brings together preserved plants which creates a new and functional standardization. This re-invented system functions as a taxonomy of plants allowing constant rearrangement, which serves directly to the mutable nature of the process. Linnaean method of collecting also functions as keeping record of change and evolvement of species, which indirectly relates to human activity that transforms ecology.
